____________________________________________________________________ "new" newsletter In an effort to keep you informed of what's happening here at the shop, I've decided to send out a quarterly newsletter, and this is the first installment. If you have any suggestions as to how I can make this more efficient or interesting, please feel free to make suggestions. ______________________________________________________ big step One of the big steps I took in an effort to maximum my time in the shop, and not answer e-mails or the phone, was to hire Chris last year. Not only has she handled those tasks with ease, but she has also created office systems and procedures for excellent customer service, Thank God for Chris! I've also hired Mark to help out in the shop. I don't know how I attracted such great folks to work with but I did. Mark is very talented, and helps out with everything from welding to mastering the forklift to rebuilding machines to putting handles on knives. Again, Thank God for Mark. Working together, our goal is to keep the quality up and increase production. I am happy to say that it has worked out great and I am very pleased with the progress we are making. ______________________________________________________ 2008 shop happenings Last year, it was difficult for me to put the Order List on hold for as much time as I did. Though, this was a necessary step, accomplishing several things: developing a partnership with Shun and Sur La Table to provide knives of my design that are readily available, working with Todd, the writer of the New Yorker article, and finally, creating a strong working team here at the shop. ______________________________________________________ latest media Gourmet Magazine, June 2009, a mention of a treasured Kramer http://www.gourmet.com/travel/2009/06/packing-knives 500 Knives.
